SuperEncoder

Super Video Encoder uses free software tools like Mencoder and FFmpeg to encode video files from one format to another (also called transcoding). It gives you a front end to be able to select options from drop down menus or tick boxes. It is freeware. There is another similar programme called Media Coder which is FLOSS, however I've found the outputs of this application more reliable.

It is particularly good at creating mp4 files / mp2 files for podcasts/ mobile devices and DVDs.

This tutorial assumes that you already have a video file which you want to turn into another format. This may be a DV avi file from capturing video from a tape or from a video editing programme. It may also be a file you have downloaded from the Internet.

If you don't already have a suitable file, then you may need to; export a file from a Video editing programme, capture a DV tape to a file on your hard drive or somthing similar. See the help about preparing Video resources.
